Student’s meeting in HanYuan county

From 6th to 7th Aug, DORS organised a meeting for sponsored students from high school, students who had graduated from high school, and college students to share their experiences of life in school. The meeting included tea meeting, role play and games to encourage them to pursue a proactive and positive direction to their life. DORS also gained some experiences for better education project implementation. The meeting was held in Hanyuan No.2 Middle school, and cost RMB 3198.

Give Warmth project

26th Sep, DORS had distributed 344 articles of clothing to Nimei County Huodi village. The women were very happy when recieving the clothes (see above photo).

Education Project of fall semester 2012

In August, Education project assistant Pu Haoyue finished the Telephone survey with over 200 poor households in 25 villages. Mr. Baishhai also went to each household to check their actual situation to see whether it meets with our criterion. 70 students were finally selected for the fall semester 2012 education project (details see chart below.)

Health village project review

July 1, 2010, under PCD sponsor, DORS started “the Hanyuan health village” project. The project ended on June 30, 2012. In order to assess the project effectiveness, existing problems and find out how to better improve the project in the future, PCD appointed Li Xiongliang and Cao Hong as the external consultants to evaluate the project in Aug. PCD project coordinator He Xiande and Project officers Deng Tangting and Zhang Chongqing assisted them to conduct the evaluation. PCD had also completed the project financial audit in September.

In the past two years, in order for villagers to understand the concept of “health village”, DORS carried out a number of activities, by using different methods in both villages. Due to limited space, here we only present some of the contents. The chart below shows the implemented activities during last two years. For more details, please contact us.

• Waste sorting and processing
• Correct usage of biogas slurry and residue

• Understand Environmental knowledge (the role of forest; why to protect wildlife; the relationship between rubbish and health, agriculture and health)
• The hazards of Indoor environmental pollution on health
• Knowledge of women's health
• Green apple cultivation techniques (only forModuo hamlet 8-9 )

Method：

• Outside experts, DORS or PCD project personnel lectures
• Community workshops
• Broadcast
• Organize the villagers to go out for visiting(Thailand(staff only), Sichuan Pi county, Jiuxiang country etc)
• Organizing community theatrical performances
• Design calendar with health information on it and distribute to villagers
• Demonstration households sharing their project knowledge with other Villagers (except Hamlet 8 & 9, all hamlets have Green apple management team)
